Name: Draco Malfoy
Age: 15
Wand: Hawthorne with Unicorn Hair, 10 1/4 inches
Student: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
House: Slytherin.
Physical Description: White-blond hair, pale skin and grey eyes, tall, borderline pretty but manages a handsome air. Usually seen wearing dark, expensive robes.
Personality: Draco was raised believing in the superiority of pure-bloods and holds a high predjudice against muggleborns. He is arrogant and egotistic, and generally bitter, snide, selfish and self absorbed. He carries an "I'm too cool for you, and aren't you privileged to know me?" attitude which is both infuriating and, in some strange way, relatively compelling. Like a jigsaw puzzle, and about as difficult to fathom. For some the compulsion is difficult to resist, and the mystery only adds to the appeal. He's obviously intelligent, with a sharp wit. He cuts with it regularly.
However, Draco is far from evil. He may be a total bastard, but he cares for his family (about the only thing he does care about) and after several years of bad choices and trial-and-error, he's come to realize that pledging allegience to himself and himself only is the safest way to approach the world.
History: Draco was born to Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, who are both pure-bloods. They are quite proud of having pure blood and, until Draco reaches the age of 15, their continued allegiance to Lord Voldemort while maintaining a respectable public image.
The Malfoys are rich and therefore spoil their son, giving him the best of everything as far as material possessions go. The only hand-me-down thing Draco has ever received would be the old family prejudice against Muggles, Muggle-borns, and half-bloods; in short, prejudice against anyone who is not a pure-blood witch or wizard.
Draco makes his first appearance in Diagon Alley at Madam Malkin's robe shop. Draco, remarkably, is the only magical person to attempt to befriend Harry without knowing who he is, although he immediately alienates Harry with his arrogant conversation. Finally, he asks if Harry's parents are "our kind" (wizards), then tells him that he thinks "the other sort" (Muggleborns) shouldn't be allowed at Hogwarts because "they've never been brought up to know our ways." It is at this time that Malfoy receives his wand, which is, according to Ollivander, made of "hawthorne and unicorn hair. Ten inches precisely. Reasonably springy." The boys part without introductions, but meet again on the Hogwarts Express. After Malfoy ridicules Ron Weasley's family, Harry rejects his offer of friendship, and their mutual dislike is born.
In his early years, Draco is portrayed as a rather cowardly bully who uses psychological manipulation and verbal taunts to denigrate his victims. Despite his cockiness, he is physically nonviolent, and his sharp tongue often gets him into trouble when Crabbe and Goyle are not around to protect him. Admittedly, he very rarely taunts anyone who is not Harry Potter or resides in the Gryffindor house, and if he does, he is most likely annoyed at their stupidity or interruption of what he was doing.
It is at this time that Draco becomes the favourite of Severus Snape, the Potions Master and Head of Slytherin House. As such, Draco often gets away with behaviour in Potions class that would land Harry or another Gryffindor in detention. Draco does as much as he can to exploit this and lands Harry in detention more than once, to his delight and to the other Gryffindor's displeasure. Due to this, Draco is immediately hated by all of that house on Harry's behalf.
In his second year, Draco has reached the age of twelve and is the new Seeker for the Slytherin Quidditch team. His broom skills are very refined for a second year, due to his broom bought for him back at his father's manor. Hermione Granger speculates that his father also bought his way in by donating high-quality Nimbus 2001 brooms to the Slytherin team, to which Draco then retorts with a snide jibe which reduces Hermione to tears. The new brooms allow the Slytherin team to outscore the Gryffindor chasers in the year's first match, but ultimately, Draco lost control of his new broom and fell off, losing the match to Harry.
Later, Malfoy introduces open prejudice against Muggle-born wizards by calling Hermione a Mudblood, which is the word's first appearance in the series. Because of his expressed contempt for Muggle-borns, Harry and his friends suspect Draco is the Heir of Slytherin who opened the Chamber of Secrets. Harry and Ron, using Polyjuice Potion to assume the forms of Crabbe and Goyle, discern that Draco is not the Heir, though he does admit that he would like to know who the Heir was so that he could help him.
At the start of third year, Draco has turned 13 years old. During new instructor Hagrid's first Care of Magical Creatures class, the hippogriff Buckbeak attacks Draco after he insults it in an attempt to once again undermine Harry. His arm slashed, he milks the injury, giving Slytherin a chance to postpone their match against Gryffindor until later in the year. He and his father also use the incident in an attempt to get Hagrid fired. Hermione punches Draco in the nose when he mocks Hagrid for crying over Buckbeak's sentence.
Draco also lets on that he knows more about Sirius Black than Harry does, taunting Harry by saying vague things about what he would have done to get revenge on Sirius Black. Harry, as yet unaware of the past Draco alludes to, ignores him. Draco, Sirius Black's relation, knows of Sirius's betrayal to the Black family by way of his mother and detests him for it.
Fourteen-year-old Draco Malfoy meets Harry Potter on the train to Hogwarts, fourth year, and asks if Harry is going to take advantage of this latest opportunity to show off. Realizing that Harry and his friends are unaware of the impending Triwizard Tournament, Draco then makes disparaging remarks regarding Ron's father, suggesting that the Ministry does not discuss important affairs in the presence of their minor staff members. Draco had learned about the Triwizard Tournament from frequent outings to the Ministry with his father, who had told him about the tournament illegally.
When Harry is chosen as one of the Triwizard Tournament Champions, Draco creates the "Support Cedric Diggory" badges for the Triwizard Tournament out of spite and shows them to Harry every chance he gets. When the badges are touched, the phrase is replaced with a second phrase, "Potter Stinks." He also gives malicious and often false information about Harry Potter and Hagrid to Rita Skeeter.
During the year as well, Barty Crouch Junior, disguised as Alastor Moody, teaches Draco a lesson by transforming him into a ferret. He's is then bounced up and down a corridor and saved by Professor McGonagall. As a ferret, he had sustained bruises from continually hitting the floor very hard, and retained them as soon as he regained human form. He did not tell anyone about this as to retain some form of diginity after the public humilliation.
At the end of fourth year, Draco returns to Malfoy Manor with the impending knowledge of Voldemort on their hands. Knowing his father is an important Death Eater, Draco is reluctant to act but realizes that his family has no choice in the matter and resigns himself to the act of helping the dark lord any way his father sees fit.

Draco Malfoy wondered if Diagon Alley had ever needed a fire marshall's warning on exactly how many people were allowed to cram their busy, sweaty bodies together in one tiny road. Looking at the sheer amount of witches and wizards trying to slide past one another was giving him a slight headache, and even now, relaxing next to the large window with a glass of water, he was surprised that they didn't look as remotely harassed as he was feeling.
He had been permitted to stay one night in the Leaky Cauldron before leaving the next morning for Hogwarts: this being a relief from the amount of rules that had recently been added to the Malfoy manor's regimen. Despite the dirty room, Draco was relatively glad to be away from home. Although the thought of meeting Potter yet again for the fifth year in a row wasn't appealing, seeing the school dungeon and feeling the cool breeze of pure, Slytherin air once more definitely was.
He finished his water and set down the glass on the bereau gingerly, forcing the little nostalgic pinpricks of thought away. The only thing keeping him from Hogwarts was shopping, and he was damned if he wasn't going to look good for the school year... Potter or not.
